Looking Back at World War II

Today’s post is from Carole at Haggard Library:

Although this war took place more than 70 years ago, it continues to fascinate readers, as well it should. Fought on three continents on land, sea and in the air, it was truly the largest war ever.

Some of my favorite non-fiction titles are:

Once Upon a Town: The Miracle of the North Platte Canteen by Bob Greene

In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer by Irene Opdyke

War in Val D’Orcia, 1943-1944  by Iris Origo

War Brides of World War II by Elfrieda B. Shukert and Barbara S. Scibetta

In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson

Walter Cronkite’s Cronkite’s War: His World War II Letters Home.

Fiction titles I like include:

Tallgrass by Sandra Dallas

A Midnight Clear  by William Wharton

A Town Like Alice  by Nevil Shute

Miracle at St. Anna  by James McBride

Land Girls  by Angela Huth

These books and many others await your reading pleasure.
